How Do They Work?

MAXX-COM is designed for easy installation and operation. The MAXX-COM tuner/matcher works by being installed in the coax feed from any transceiver, (low frequency, medium frequency, high frequency, or very high frequency) and before the antenna. MAXX-COM is always tuned and ready to transmit. All frequencies, all modes, under any conditions.

There are MAXX-COM models suitable for any antenna configuration, including:

Once installed in any configuration, operation is the most simple in the radio industry. One Step: Put your lips to the mike and talk. That’s it! MAXX-COM tunes your selected frequency to any suitable antenna in receive mode, and it does it in less than 1/1200 of a second.

This means:
 No power wires or connections are needed to feed MAXX-COM.
 Never will you need to transmit prior to being correctly tuned to your selected frequency.
 You may scan bands and channels in receive while always being perfectly tuned.
 During emergency use, an inexperienced operator will make no mistakes calling for help.
 You will never interfere with others who may be listening on a certain frequency.

MAXX-COM works in any operating environment, including:
Marine: Yachts, cruise ships, work boats, sailing vessels, emergency back-up.
Commercial: Office to office, office to vehicle, vehicle to vehicle, dispatch, HF link

From any radio to any antenna, on any mode, any frequency, under any conditions, MAXX-COM works instantly, efficiently. We GUARANTEE this to be the case for five full years.

MAXX-COM is a non-resonating antenna system of the “traveling wave” type. Because it is not a current fed system, conventional laboratory instruments cannot measure the electro-magnetic field generated by the system. Antenna current meters at the feed point and neon bulbs do not react as with resonant, ungrounded radiators. MAXX-COM does, however, generate high RF voltages at the far end of the reactive output radiators which can be simply demonstrated by holding a lead pencil at those points while keying a carrier into the antenna system. Confirm the blue arc across the gap to the pencil lead, testifying to the antenna voltages, generated by the MAXX-COM.

Frequency switching time: Instant. (Tested to 1,200 CPS)
Power ranges: from 150 – 10,000 watts. (works with as little as ˝ watt)
Efficiency: 80% or better.
Input impedance: 50 ohms nominal, unbalanced.
Coaxial connectors: UHF Type. SO-239/PL-259
Operating temperature range: -20 to +120 Degrees F.
Construction: Stainless steel and aluminum. Epoxy filled

The traveling wave system is most efficient with larger amounts of wire in the radiator/radiators, (S or D models respectively) which is why we recommend 100’ of wire on the S model and 20’ minimum of coax feedline, and for the model D, a 100’ dipole. Anything less may result in a reduction of radiation efficiency.

A radiator such as the Shakespeare 390 (23’ non-loaded whip) has been used effectively. We recommend adding either horizontal or vertical length to the feed wire, (as much as the installation will allow) to provide, effectively, a larger radiator. This is true even with a conventional coupler and will improve radiation efficiency most noticed at the lower frequencies.
